EL.3 – Thermocouple

An emf can be produced by purely thermal means in a circuit composed of two different metals or alloys, A and B, whose junctions are maintained at different temperatures. More electrons flow in one direction than the other and this current can be measured on the galvanometer.

Bring a lighted match to the junction and a current will be measured on the lecture galvanometer.
