Our laboratory investigates the molecular and circuit mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. We are particularly interested in how disease-associated genetic mutations alter synaptic function, neuronal communication, brain circuit activity, and behavior. To address these questions, we integrate molecular biology, mouse genetics, biochemistry, optogenetics, electrophysiology, in vivo and ex vivo imaging, and high-resolution behavioral analysis.
We combine these experimental approaches with advanced computational methods to identify synaptic and neuronal dysfunction, quantify behaviorally relevant brain activity, and define changes in neural population coding and circuit connectivity. By studying disease mechanisms across molecular, cellular, synaptic, circuit, and behavioral levels, our goal is to understand how genetic risk leads to brain dysfunction and to identify new strategies for therapeutic intervention.
