Students collaborating on homework

Students can apply to Freshman Science Honors after they have been admitted to the University. To be eligible to apply, you must be a first-year student entering in the fall semester with a Dornsife major in a natural science or Health and Human Sciences. Because this is a year-long program, spring admit freshmen are unfortunately not eligible to apply.

Students in the Freshman Science Honors program have typically done well in high school, especially in their science and math coursework. SAT/ACT scores are not required for admission to the program. Most FSH students have taken AP/IB (HL) Biology, AP/IB (HL) Chemistry, or both, and scored a 4 or 5 on the associated AP exam. In addition, most FSH students have a strong mathematical background that includes AP Calculus AB and/or AP Calculus BC. A strong background in chemistry and math is strongly recommended. A physics course of any level is required for admission.

All admitted Dornsife students who are eligible to apply will see a link to the application in their admission portal. The priority application deadline has been extended to Thursday, April 11, 2024. Students who apply by April 11 will be notified of their status by Friday, April 26. All applications received after April 11 will be considered for the waitlist for the program.
