Students who study Italian at USC have various options to immerse themselves in the language and culture onsite in Italy!
Each year Italian faculty offer Maymesters in cities like Rome or Venice for students to accelerate their studies of Italian. Oftentimes students take ITAL 120 on campus in the fall, ITAL 150 in the spring and complete their basic language requirement ITAL 220 onsite in either Rome or Venice accompanied by their USC instructors of Italian! While on these programs students engage with some of the world’s most important historical and artistic treasures, advance their acquisition of the language at the intermediate and advanced levels and even take lessons on an Italian university campus. Students partake in numerous cultural activities, interact with Italian university students their own age, and often stay with Italian homestay families. USC students also have the option to spend a semester or academic year in Florence or Milan through USC Dornsife’s Office of Overseas Studies. Click here for more information.
