Background

Welcome to the Ebell-USC study landing page! We are the Brain & Music Lab, a USC-based neuroscience lab that studies the benefits of music for brain development across the lifespan. In this project, we are studying how group singing and audiobook listening can support hearing, cognition, and well-being in older adults. Ebell of Los Angeles has kindly partnered with us to host these research programs. Explore our webpage to learn more, and submit an interest form to see if you are eligible to participate.

Research Aims

We would like to know if participating in group singing can aid speech-in-noise perception in older adults, as well as their general well-being. This study is a clinical trial exploring a non-medical music-based intervention for improving hearing abilities and well-being of older adults.

You may be eligible to enroll in the study if you…

Are 60 years or older

Have untreated hearing loss

Have no significant cognitive impairment

Do not have a pacemaker or take anti-arrhythmic agents/medicines

Have not taken any music classes or audiobook clubs within the past year

Speak and understand English
