Study and work in Washington DC
Work in Washington DC
An internship is required of all students participating in the program. We will work very closely with you to help you land in the spot best suited for your goals and ambitions. It is recommended that students begin their own internship search during the application process. Students must work at least 20 hours per week for 12 weeks.
Past students have worked at: the U.S. State Department, Woodrow Wilson Center, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Atlantic Council, the Brookings Institute, Capitol Hill, the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, and CSIS among other places. Students receive four units of credit (either IR 391 or POSC 395) for completing an internship.
The Orrin G. Hatch Scholars Program is a new education initiative that seeks to cultivate the next generation of public leaders by awarding scholarships to students from across the country who demonstrate academic excellence, personal integrity, and a commitment to civic service. This scholarship is offered to undergraduate students who have secured an internship in our nation’s capital.
