Foundations of Academic Dialogue is a resource for instructors of all levels that provides concrete guidance on how to navigate difficult dialogues in academic settings.
The guidance developed is informed by research in the areas of intergroup dialogue, social psychology, and intergroup relations.
We are currently studying both instructor and student experiences in implementing this guidance (USC IRB Study Number UP-24-00907) and are always seeking new instructors and faculty who wish to join in this groundbreaking work. All that is required is to complete very brief pre/post surveys via Qualtrics to tell us about your experiences.
Below is the Instructor Guidance that will help you implement the Foundations of Academic Dialogue resource in your class. Please feel free to download and review. If you have questions about implementation, please contact study co-PI, Quade French (qfrench (at) usc.edu). While we hope you will agree to participate to share your knowledge, you are not required to participate in the research in order to utilize this guidance. Link to the survey participation and the guidance are below.
