The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation is committed to advancing education as a way of improving relations between communities and the general quality of life. Since its inception in 2006, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars to educational institutions including Harvard University and the London School of Economics, and in 2015 inaugurated at the University of California, Berkeley the Subir & Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies, which seeks to combine research, scholarships, and the promotion of art and culture to build ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
The Chowdhury Prize in Literature Administrator is David L. Ulin.
