Graduate Student Positions

If you are interested in applying to the Brain & Music Lab for graduate studies, please apply to the USC Psychology Graduate Training Program. You will need to be admitted to this program before being accepted to the Brain & Creativity Institute, and to the Brain & Music Lab. Applicants with prior experience with electrophysiology, neuroimaging, and computer programming will be given priority consideration. Take some time to read through the research projects and the related publications on this page and on the Institute’s webpage. Volunteer Research Assistant Positions 

Update April 9, 2024: We are currently accepting applications for volunteer research assistant opportunities for the summer and fall.

Interested in joining the Brain & Music Lab as a volunteer Research Assistant?

Please keep in mind that working in our lab requires a lot of training, and thus time and effort. Volunteers are required to commit at least 10 hours/week for a minimum of 2 consecutive semesters. During the summer, RAs are required to commit 20 hours/week for a minimum of 8-10 weeks. Volunteers must be detail oriented, and able to work with children and adolescents. We especially welcome volunteers with backgrounds in music, neuroscience, psychology, computer science, and statistics.

Getting Here

From the parking structure A, head east on Downey Way. At your first opportunity, turn left onto a pedestrian walkway. Walk up the path until you see the Brain and Creativity Institute on your left. There will be a shiny metal post out in front. When you get to the door, ring the doorbell and someone will buzz you into the building. In the lobby, you’ll check in with the receptionist.
