Biography

Courtney Carter is a doctoral student in the Department of Art History and an enrollee in the Visual Studies Graduate Certificate. She researches modern art and visual culture in the United States and Europe. Her particular interests are in the history and theory of photography, modern literature, inter-medial experimentation, and word/image relationships. Prior to joining USC, she completed fellowships at Yale-NUS College in Singapore and the Arts and Humanities Center at Haverford College, where she curated and contributed to several exhibitions. She has held internships at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and is an alumnus of the Independent Curators International Curatorial Intensive. Courtney received her B.A. in English Literature from Haverford College.
