How to Apply

The final deadline for all applicants has been extended to January 31, 2019 to accommodate U.S. government employees applying or writing letters of support.

 

Applications are now closed.

 

Applications will consist of the following components:

  • 2 page NSF style Biosketch
  • Research interests –  a one-half page (< 500 words) abstract of the applicant’s Ph.D. or other polar research project. The abstract should be written for a non-specialist audience
  • Reasons for wanting to be part of this Symposium One-half page (< 500 words) description of the significance of your research and how future research and professional goals align with the symposium theme. Please indicate at the end if you would like to be considered for need-based travel funds.
  • Polar related focus on Broader impacts One-half page essay describing a polar education/outreach (NSF Criterion 2) activity the applicant has participated in and/or one they would like to perform.
  • Two references – The references that are listed in your application will receive an e-mail request to upload a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Applicants will receive notification when both letters of references are received, completing the application.
