Biography
Olivia Verónica Méndez is a full-time Lecturer in the American Language Institute at the University of Southern California (USC), where she has taught and designed courses. She has taught a wide spectrum of English as a second language and linguistics courses in various institutions: public schools, private professional settings, and academic institutions. Her fields of expertise are second-language acquisition, dialectology, curriculum development, including DEI content-based instruction in pronunciation, grammar, and academic wiriting, teacher training, and technology-based instruction. Other interests include linguistic research on indiugenous languages of Mexico (with a focus on Zapotec Languages). She has been a featured speaker at international conferences for her innovative work in academic writing pedagogy.
