The author of 39 books, alumnus Theodore Roosevelt Gardner II is best known for the whimsical sculpture garden he has created on his 18-acre property “The Hermitage” in Santa Barbara.

Frank Baxter, a professor of English literature in the 1950s, became a science hero to millions thanks to his alter-ego, “Dr. Research.” Many students became scientists because of Baxter and the Bell Laboratory Science Series he hosted on TV.
