from a Californian

Beautiful are your orchards of Arles,
But, oh, Monsieur Van Gogh,
If you could see our jacarandas
Against a gray sky in May,
Their bellflowers dappling green grass below,
Your brush would rush to capture their lavender.
We have pink flowering peach trees, too,
The kind that grew in France and so delighted you.
