Marketing and Communications Intern at TreePeople

Cheska Pangilinan, Spring 2023

Hello, everyone! My name is Cheska, and I’m a junior majoring in Environmental Studies with an Environmental Policy concentration and pre-law emphasis. This semester, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to intern with TreePeople’s Marketing and Communications team. TreePeople is the largest educational and training environmental advocacy non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, TreePeople has engaged, inspired, and supported more than three million people to take action for our environment by planting and caring for trees in forests, mountains, parks, and neighborhoods. Working under the supervision of the Director and Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, I assist in advancing the team’s efforts and preparations for their 50th-anniversary celebration later this year and other miscellaneous projects. I’ve conducted various product research projects such as exploring different blankets, QR codes, stencils, and mug options. I’ve also created infographics for TreePeople’s social media platforms to convey climate science on a public level. Although the internship is largely remote, I volunteered with the Forestry team on an urban tree planting event in Inglewood where I took pictures and interviewed other volunteers and in a Castaic Oak Restoration mountain tree planting event in the Angeles National Forest. In all, I’ve loved my time at TreePeople and hope to continue engaging with them in the future!
