TV News Producer
Tommy Brooksbank is a journalist and producer at ABC News, where he has worked since 2018 across World News Tonight, Good Morning America, Nightline and ABC News Live.
A Peabody finalist and five-time Emmy nominee, he has earned a duPont–Columbia Award, two New York Press Club Awards and the NAHJ Award for investigative and climate-focused reporting. Brooksbank holds a political science degree from USC Dornsife and a broadcast and digital journalism degree from USC Annenberg.
USC Dornsife played an important role in honing his focus on political journalism. “There were countless faculty members with deep political knowledge, a hands-on learning environment and lots of campus events where you could feel comfortable talking politics outside the classroom,” he says. Guidance from professor Ange-Marie Hancock, now at The Ohio State University, helped him land a coveted internship with a presidential campaign.
After beginning his career as a digital video intern at CNN, he joined ABC News, first building out social strategy for GMA3 before moving into producing roles. Now he develops investigative projects and longform specials and helps lead breaking news coverage. His credits include the duPont-winning Trashed: The Secret Life of Plastic Recycling and Peabody finalist Zombie Wells: The Threat Beneath, along with high-profile interviews with numerous politicians including Vice President Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence.
