Editorial Board

Hannah Miller is a second-year Comparative Literature major in USC’s Thematic Honors Program, pursuing a minor in German. She is deeply passionate about the intersection of cultural exchange, religion, and art history. A dedicated humanities researcher, Hannah has published a historical paper, presented at the Thematic Options Research Symposium, and explored diverse fields, including film. She is thrilled to serve as Editor-in-Chief for this year’s Close/Read editorial board.

Naima Ramakrishnan is a third-year Comparative Literature and Computational Neuroscience double major interested in the intersection of reading and the brain, archival research across media, experimental music, screenwriting, and postmodernist literature. She is a research assistant at the Center for Neuroscience of Embodied Cognition, a radio jockey for KXSC, USC’s college radio station, and a member of the COLT Symposium Organizing Committee. She loves books-within-books, discovering things on the Internet Archive, and mahua trees.

Caiden Le is a first-year Comparative Literature major on the pre-medical track at USC. Outside the classroom, he enjoys photography, film, and discovering new music. These interests blend into his academic focus, as his studies center around intermediality, which explores the place where film, photography, and literature intersect as an approach for holistic patient care.

Kate Nourrcier is a third-year Comparative Literature student at USC with a strong interest in art and architecture, and their role in human expression. She is interested in the way aesthetic theories within comparative literature explore how communities understand the world through various forms of artistic expression. As Co-Design and Digital Editor she is excited to bring her passion for the arts and her skills in critical inquiry to the Close/Read publication.

Bethany Kim is a first-year Comparative Literature and Pre-Law student at USC. As a lifelong writer at heart, her literary journey spans from managing creative writing literary magazines as Co-Editor-in-Chief, running a weekly podcast dedicated to visually impaired writers, to travelling abroad for both international and regional essay competitions. Bethany is especially fascinated and inspired by the theoretical intersection of deconstructive reality, the law, and soft power found in the works of authors George Saunders, John Grisham, Ted Chiang, and Dino Buzzati. Beyond academia, Bethany enjoys exploring unique macaroon flavors, and is more than excited to collaborate with her fellow Close/Read editors and associates.
