Personal statement review

Our personal statement review service is designed for applicants who are in the final stages of writing their personal statements and are looking for additional feedback. 

For tips on what makes a great personal statement, please review this handout and develop your personal statement according to the general guidelines.

If you are having challenges formulating your ideas for a personal statement, please feel free to make an advising appointment with the pre-law advisors or the USC Writing Center (for current USC students only).

This review process is intended for FINAL DRAFTS.  Therefore, before submitting your personal statement, please proofread your personal statement for grammar and content. The pre-law advising team will return it to you within 5 business days with constructive feedback.

Due to high volume, we are able to accept one submission at a time.  If you submit more than one document, we will select the first one received.

NOTE: We will not be doing personal statement reviews between December 1- January 5, 2024.

Aeverie Polintan is a current 3L Honors Scholar at USC Gould, and is an aspiring litigator. She attended Northeastern University and graduated with a BS in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Aeverie is thrilled to be part of the Career Pathways team as a pre-law advisor and loves leveraging her personal experience to help other students navigate the law school admissions process.

Briana Niu- all majors!

Briana Niu is a current 3L student at USC Gould with an interest in patent law. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and a minor in History. Prior to attending law school, Briana worked in IT consulting. Briana enjoys helping students figure out how to navigate their own unique paths to law school.
