Jiyoon Park
Biography
Jiyoon Park is a PhD candidate in the Department of Art History, where she studies Buddhist art in Northern Dynasties, China. Her current research critically examines “numbers” as a medium in liturgy, visuality, and time in the Buddhist cave temples of Northern Wei. By analyzing number and computation as a core player in art and rituals of Buddhism, her research lies in the intersection of art history, religious studies, and history of science and technology.
She received her B.A. in History of Art from Yale University, where she graduated with distinction in the major and received Walter Louis Ehrich Memorial prize for her senior thesis. She also held positions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Yale University Art Gallery as a researcher. [jpark281@usc.edu]
