Biography

Jill Luoto is a Senior Economist/Research Scientist at the Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR) at USC. She is an applied microeconomist whose research interests include labor, health, development, and behavioral economics with a focus on poverty and individual decision making. She has been principal investigator on numerous randomized trials testing behavioral interventions in field experiments in different settings and is currently PI on a NICHD-funded five-year cluster RCT to test different means to deliver early childhood development (ECD) interventions across 60 villages and 1152 households with young children in rural Kenya. She received a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010. Prior to joining CESR she was a Senior Economist at RAND.
