Summary Statement of Research Interests
Professor Melnick’s interests in health care span the United States and the world. His early work resulted in the development of the first hospital market-level data base in the United States, used to evaluate the effects of market-based pro-competition policies. His current work focuses on the structure, function and effects of managed care, and to disseminate new knowledge to improve the performance of healthcare systems.
