F.6 – Non-Newtonian Fluids
A mixture of water and corn starch shows unexpected behavior when acted upon by a large force. It is a gooey mixture when touched but it becomes momentarily hard when hit. Slam your fist down on the mixture and it will not splatter. A ripping action can also be shown by dragging a spoon rapidly through the mixture.
