Tom Henkenius

Tom Henkenius is an innovative digital content leader and Emmy award-winning journalist. He is the principal partner at Thunder Communications, a content strategy and production company. He is also director of FIDM’s Bachelor of Arts degrees in digital marketing and graphic design. His passion is to create solutions that integrate design and technology to achieve business outcomes. He also serves on the board of a couple startups, including ScholarRise.

Tom spent 10 years as a television news journalist after receiving his BA from USC Dornsife in Political Science and a second BA in Journalism from USC Annenberg in 2000. He has taught media at the University of Nevada, Reno and currently teaches design thinking and digital trends at FIDM. He earned a Master of Science from USCs Iovine and Young Academy in Integrated Design, Business and Technology in 2019.

Tom serves on the executive committee of the USC Alumni Association Board of Governors co-chairing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee. In addition, he serves on the USC Lambda LGBT Alumni Association Board of Directors as the most recent past-president and co-chair of the 30th anniversary gala to be held in 2022. And, he is a published cookbook author.
