Education

  • Ph.D. Geology, Columbia University, 1975
  • M.S. Geology, University of Rochester, 1970
  • B.A. Chemistry, University of Rochester, 1967
  • Summary Statement of Research Interests

Professor Hammond studies the biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nutrients in aqueous systems; the transport of solutes, particles, and pollutants in aqueous environments; and studies of diagenesis in sediments. He has been involved in field programs in the Equatorial Pacific, the California Borderland, San Francisco Bay, the Adriatic Sea, Mono Lake, and several geothermal systems.
