Summary Statement of Research Interests

How do people make sense of incomplete and noisy observations? How do humans make decisions in an uncertain world and how do they learn from their mistakes? Dr. Piray uses computational tools from machine learning (reinforcement learning, Bayesian machine learning) and experimental tools from cognitive neuroscience (fMRI, virtual reality) to study these problems in health and disease. Dr. Piray will be recruiting graduate students.
