Fire Station #23
5th Street, west of Los Angeles Street
Although it looks rather handsome in this photo, this fire station sits in disrepair on the edge of Skid Row. Unlike Fire Company No. 28, over in the financial district, nobody has put up money to restore this wonderful old fire house.
According to the Fire Department's archive, this station opened in 1911, the last of the city's fire houses built to accommodate horses.
Rumor has it that the interior of the station in Ghostbusters was shot here.
