Summary:

John Adams’s The Gospel According to the Other Mary takes a fresh approach to the combination of seemingly disparate materials. The performance will be fully staged by acclaimed director Peter Sellars and conducted by the energetic Gustavo Dudamel.

Description:

*This trip is for current USC students only. You must use the provided transportation to participate. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Due to high demand, tickets will be distributed on a lottery basis. To sign up for the lottery, click on the link above on Wednesday, February 13, anytime between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Check-in for the event will begin at 11:45 a.m. on campus. Buses will depart at 12:30 p.m. and return to campus at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at check-in.

USC students will visit the Walt Disney Concert Hall to see Gustavo Dudamel conduct the LA Philharmonic. They will perform John Adams’s The Gospel According to the Other Mary. Based on the New Testament stories of Lazarus and Jesus’s Passion as well as contemporary Latin American poetry, Adams takes a fresh approach to combining seemingly disparate materials. The performance will be fully staged by acclaimed director Peter Sellars.
