On March 23, 2011, the heart of the University of Southern California and the oldest, largest and most diverse academic unit within the university was named the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Read about the event >

 

David and his wife Dana, longtime supporters of the university and international philanthropists, have given $200 million, the largest single gift in USC’s history to name its college of letters, arts and sciences.

 

The unprecedented gift will expand core support for world-class scholarly and creative research, outstanding Ph.D. programs, and distinguished undergraduate education throughout the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

Couple to give record $200-million gift to USC
The unrestricted donation from alumnus David Dornsife, the chairman of a large steel fabricating company, and his wife, Dana, will go to the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, which will be named for the couple. Los Angeles Times, March 9, 2011
