Description of Research

Summary Statement of Research Interests

Professor Marston researches an area previously described as "experimental analogues of psychotherapy", focusing on laboratory paradigms which include "unconscious learning," vicarious reinforcement, and self-reinforcement. His research also focuses on direct clinical outcome studies in health related areas. His work on obesity resulted in a popular book called The Undiet and a home video weight loss program. His recent studies investigate crying, using films to elicit tears and examining such variables as gender differences.
