This minor provides the foundation for an advanced understanding of Iran, its history, peoples and cultures, from antiquity to the present. Neighboring countries that participated in Persian culture are included, as well as non-Persian Iranian peoples such as the Kurds and Pashtuns. Students will also gain at least an intermediate ability in Persian, the official language of Iran, which is widely used in neighboring countries as well.
