f--wysiwyg\">\n\n    \n  <p>In an effort to address climate change, researchers are developing novel methods to combat the rising levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere. Exploring ocean sequestration \u2013 a naturally-occurring phenomenon in which the ocean captures and stores CO2 \u2013 is one of them. Here at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/today.usc.edu\/natural-carbon-capture-unlocking-oceans-secret\/\">USC Dornsife<\/a>, Paxson H. Offield Professor in Coastal and Marine Systems\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dornsife.usc.edu\/profile\/william-berelson\/\">Will Berelson<\/a>\u00a0and his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dornsife.usc.edu\/berelson\/\">laboratory<\/a> are spearheading these efforts.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a multi-phase project, the lab constructed custom equipment at USC&#8217;s University Park Campus to test the process of capturing carbon and sequestering it in ocean water under tightly controlled testing conditions.
