A leader in multi-method sociology, the USC Dornsife Department of Sociology aims to move the needle on critical social challenges — from economic segregation in primary schools to the ways physical distance affects relationships to our collective preparedness for disasters and pandemics.

Students are challenged to develop statistical analysis and quantitative techniques, refine observation and writing skills, and conduct faculty-guided research on pressing issues. And all of this takes place in Los Angeles where students can explore the cultural richness that happens right outside their door.
