The USC Dornsife School of Religion is a center for research and teaching on world religions. Few institutions house scholars studying so many different world faiths across multiple periods and cultures.
They explore topics including the early history of Christianity, Shintoism in contemporary Japan, Islamic law and intellectual history, spiritual visions, Buddhism in literature, and more.
Faculty are leading experts in their fields, and teach students on all levels, from freshman seminars to graduate-level classes. Courses focus not only on the history and literature of religions but also the ways in which religion has dramatically shaped the world, spotlighting themes such as religion’s relationship to science, violence, gender, and sexuality.
