Since 1975, the USC Dornsife Max Kade Institute for Austrian-German-Swiss Studies has supported research and scholarship focused on German and European studies, with special emphasis on exile studies, Cold War studies, German history, film, and contemporary German and European affairs. The institute also investigates the lives, experiences, and contributions of German-speaking exiles in Southern California, providing a Pacific perspective on German culture.
