French and Italian

In the USC Dornsife Department of French and Italian, students are challenged to do more than just improve language skills by exploring the way language changes a person’s worldview and builds empathy across cultures. Faculty expertise in the department spans time periods and disciplines, including literature, philosophy, history, and cinema, among others. In addition to facilitating campus visits from renowned writers, critics, scholars, artists, and filmmakers, the department also offers opportunities for off-campus programs in Dijon, Rome, Paris, and Florence giving students an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in French or Italian language and culture.
