East Asian Languages and Cultures

In the USC Dornsife Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures (EALC), faculty explore the literature, drama, art, popular media, and history of East Asia. By using a border-crossing approach, students are challenged to think critically about these unique cultures as they change and evolve to reflect today’s global society. With numerous study abroad and experiential learning opportunities, as well as being located minutes from the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and Koreatown, students are able to engage in immersive experiences that make the study of East Asia come alive.
