Art history faculty and students work to understand how cultural artifacts acquire meaning and how that meaning changes over time. By taking an exceptionally broad and international view of the field, USC Dornsife’s award-winning art historians offer perspectives on a wide-range of topics including Byzantine material culture, natural history illustration, and contemporary digital media. Students take part in a rigorous program of study where they learn to assess artworks aesthetically and historically — all while having easy access to some of the world's greatest cultural institutions in Los Angeles.
