Lviv-based essayist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sashadovzhyk.com\/\"><b>Sasha Dovzhyk<\/b><\/a>, Lviv-based poet and author of <i>A Field of Foundlings<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/pen.org.ua\/en\/autors\/starovojt-iryna\"><b>Iryna Starovoyt<\/b><\/a>, and UCSD professor <a href=\"https:\/\/literature.ucsd.edu\/people\/faculty\/aglaser.html\"><b>Amelia Glaser<\/b><\/a> (moderator) will gather to discuss how Ukrainian artists and writers have helped shape independent, multicultural national identities, from the collapse of the Soviet Union to the Maidan protests of 2013\u201314, and through Russia\u2019s invasion of eastern Ukraine in 2014 and full-scale war beginning in 2022. Traditional Petrykivka artworks by Halych-born and Santa Monica\u2013based artist <a href=\"https:\/\/malyarenko.com\/\"><b>Marina Malyarenko<\/b><\/a>\u00a0will be on display. Dovzhyk and Starovoyt\u2014members of PEN Ukraine\u2014will read from their works.<\/p>\n<p>The panel will be preceded by <b><a href=\"https:\/\/visionsandvoices.usc.edu\/eventdetails\/?event_id=46634081089093\">hands-on workshops<\/a><\/b> by Dovzhyk, Malyarenko, and Starovoyt, giving attendees a chance to meet and learn from them firsthand.
