Throughout our program, students are given ample time to explore and pursue their professional interests in the greater Los Angeles area and around the world. Our students have worked with underserved populations, participated in formal rotational programs, conducted research, volunteered in the community and local hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to completing two pre-med courses per semester, our students find and secure clinical, volunteer, or research opportunities early in their program. In their first or second semester, our students have the option to gain shadowing experience through our Pre-health Shadowing Program. Additionally, many of our students have prior clinical or volunteer experience, which they will continue to pursue during their time in the program.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a list of opportunities and sites where our students have gained valuable experience:<\/p>\n<p>USC Research Centers (Research)<br \/>\nLAC + USC Medical Center (Community Outreach)<br \/>\nLA area free clinics (Community Outreach)<br \/>\nAIDS Project Los Angeles (Community Outreach)<br \/>\nUSC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (Research)<br \/>\nKeck School of Medicine (Research)<br \/>\nCOPE Health Scholars Program (Rotational Program)<br \/>\nCedars-Sinai Volunteer Services (Volunteer Program)<br \/>\nTrojan Health Volunteers (Community outreach \/ volunteer)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Cycle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The medical school application cycle is a year-long process. Students begin their MCAT prep at the beginning of Spring of their second year. At the end of this semester, around the end of May, students submit their AMCAS application to medical school. From summer of the second year on to the following summer, application year students will complete and submit secondaries, prepare for interviews, and await the decisions of the schools they applied to.
