  \n                                \n<div class=\"f--field f--description\">\n\n    \n  <p>POIR Ph.D. alumni are teachers and researchers at some of the top universities in the United States and the world. In the last several years, our tenure-track and postdoctoral placements have included Baylor University; Chinese University of Hong Kong; Columbia University; George Mason University; Georgia Institute of Technology; Harvard University; Kalamazoo College; North Carolina State University; Occidental College; Oxford University; Oregon State University; Tulane University; University of Auckland; University of California, Santa Cruz; Seton Hall University; Texas Christian University; University of Massachusetts; University of Michigan; Wayne State University; Wellesley College; and Yale-NUS.<\/p>\n<p>Each summer before the academic job market, the POIR placement support group meets to prepare for the job market. Please contact POIR Director David Kang if interested in participating in the placement support group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n    \n            <div class=\"cards-container\">\n            \n                <div class=\"card\">\n\n                    <div class=\"title-description\">\n\n                                                      \n<div class=\"f--field f--cta-title\">\n\n    \n  <h3>\n          2018-19 job market candidates\u2019 placements\n      <\/h3>\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                                                        \n<div class=\"f--field f--description\">\n\n    \n  <p>During the 2018-19 market, four of four students (100%) on the academic market received a tenure-track job or postdoctoral position and one of one (100%) students on the non-academic market received a position. Three of these academic placements were tenure-track positions: (1) Tom Jamieson, International Relations, Assistant Professor, University of Nebraska Omaha; (2) Elli Menounou, Comparative Politics, Assistant Professor, Cal Poly Pomona; (3) Sara Sadhwani, American Politics, California Lutheran University. One of the four academic placements was a postdoctoral positions: (1) Ronan Fu, International Relations,\u00a0Post-doctoral Fellow, Harvard\/Columbia University, China and the World Program. One student on the non-academic market landed an executive position at Edison International (Hai-Vu Phan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                    <\/div>\n\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n\n            \n                <div class=\"card\">\n\n                    <div class=\"title-description\">\n\n                                                      \n<div class=\"f--field f--cta-title\">\n\n    \n  <h3>\n          2017-18 job market candidates\u2019 placements\n      <\/h3>\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                                                        \n<div class=\"f--field f--description\">\n\n    \n  <p>During the 2017-18 market, six of seven students (85%) on the academic market received a tenure-track job or postdoctoral position.\u00a0 Five of these academic placements were tenure-track positions: (1) Jordan Carr Peterson, American politics, Assistant Professor, Texas Christian University; (2) Joey Huddleston, international relations, Assistant Professor, Seton Hall University; (3) Youssef Chouhoud, comparative politics, race\/ethnicity\/politics, Christopher Newport University; (4) Meredith Shaw, comparative politics, East Asia, University of Tokyo; (5) Mariana Rangel-Padilla, comparative politics, Tecnologico de Monterrey University. The sixth placement was a postdoctoral position (Scott Wilbur).
