The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southern California welcomes applicants to apply to our Physics PhD program or our Physical Biology PhD program.<\/p>\n

Applications to these programs:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Have a 3-Step process<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Do not require application fee<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Do not require subject or general GRE\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    STEP 1\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013<\/em> Apply directly to the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Submit your application for review by December 15, 2025 to the Physics and Astronomy Graduate Admissions Committee: Apply<\/strong>\u00a0for the Physics PhD program\u00a0here<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>and\/or the Physical Biology PhD program\u00a0here<\/strong><\/a>. (Recommendation letters can be submitted until 12\/29\/2025).<\/em><\/p>\n

    STEP 2 \u2013 <\/strong>If selected by the Department, you will receive instructions on how to formally apply to the university. This communication will contain a Fee Waiver Memo<\/strong> which you will need to upload during the STEP 3 process of applying to the university.<\/p>\n

    STEP 3 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0 Apply<\/strong> to the university\u2019s Office of Graduate and International Admissions (through www.usc.liaisoncas.com<\/a><\/strong>). When submitting your application to the university, your Official Transcript<\/strong> will be required.\u00a0 Your Fee Waiver Memo<\/strong> is also necessary to ensure your application fee is paid for by the department.<\/p>\n

    *International students will be required to take the English Language Proficiency Test via the USC American Language Institute<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
