We head for the door. The bartender,
\nWith shattered glass teeth, flashes a bloody smile
\nAt the fat rat regular, who once tried to wrap
\nHis wormy, hairless tail around my beckoning
\nThigh. You\u2019re slung over my shoulders, a skinned
\nStag in winter. The door spits us out
\nInto night\u2019s cool embrace. The Uber is missing
\nA wheel and pulled by a powder horse, chained to
\nThe hood. The seats smell like kerosene and pulled teeth.
\nYou nod to music that only you can hear. Your
\nHead pressed against the window, the glass liquifies
\nAnd rehardens, trapping you. You don\u2019t notice.
\nRemoval will be a nightmare. I hope this doesn\u2019t
\nHurt my Uber rating. I pluck five stars
\nFrom the sky and cling to them like a lifeline.
\nA needle has done the waltz down your arm,
\nLeaving purple and black footprints. Unlike ones
\nOn the beach, these won\u2019t wash away with the tide.
\nWhatever blooms in your veins is, like every black-
\nTongued baby, born to dance. Conceived in the
\nBathroom stall of a bar where patrons trade
\nScraps of daylight for endless night. Wherever
\nYou are now, I hope the moon lights your way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n <\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
