Days get sticky like<\/p>\n

bees drunk on honey like<\/p>\n

the sky stains like\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 one big blueberry pie that sags with juice in its middle.<\/p>\n

The radio silence that used to consume us is now just a<\/p>\n

cheap AC unit that hums to keep us company. And<\/p>\n

nights gather like<\/p>\n

dust on the<\/p>\n

books I should be reading\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (why am I not reading?)<\/p>\n

and the vases I should be drawing\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (why am I not drawing?)<\/p>\n

and the jars of tomatoes I should be cooking<\/p>\n

I walk on the sidewalk dodging peeling<\/p>\n

cherry skins that fell last month and<\/p>\n

have since been abandoned with<\/p>\n

chalk on the pavement and<\/p>\n

everyone is Indoors but guess what [guess what] I still walk<\/p>\n

through the sprinklers to avoid<\/p>\n

Parked vans.<\/p>\n

And<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure if it\u2019s May or<\/p>\n

August or<\/p>\n

god forbid another Tuesday afternoon but I<\/p>\n

lay here sweating in my<\/p>\n

twin-sized bed,<\/p>\n

calling numbers the museum gave me so I would not be<\/p>\n

alone [so I would not<\/p>\n

grow smaller and<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0smaller inside my bedroom walls]. At<\/p>\n

2:29 a.m. I watch passing headlights scrape against my ceiling and<\/p>\n

remember that Somewhere in the world people are coming home to one another and<\/p>\n

I tell myself I should be<\/p>\n

grateful.<\/p>\n
