Mark Irwin of English and Alain Borer of French are collaborating on a new translation of poems by the enfant terrible of Gallic letters, Arthur Rimbaud, the influential child genius poet who inspired artists ranging from the Surrealists and the Beat Generation to rock icons Jim Morrison and Patti Smith.

Social Impact

Congratulations to the 10 USC Dornsife students who won 2013 Fulbright Scholarships. The award will take them to India, Laos, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland and Mexico.

Congratulations to the six USC Dornsife students and alumni who won 2012 Fulbright Scholarships. The award will take them to Brazil, the Philippines and Israel, to name a few countries.

Faculty

The March 2012 issue of Poetry magazine will feature the poem "Sleep Log" written by Alain Borer and translated into English by Mark Irwin. Over the course of their friendship, the two USC Dornsife professors have translated each other's poetry into French and English.
