Political economy major competes on ‘Jeopardy!’

USC Dornsife student Sam Deutsch takes part in the show’s College Championship, starting the week of Feb. 1.

Get ready for Jeopardy! College Championship. The two-week tournament, beginning Feb. 1, includes a USC Dornsife student competing for the $100,000 grand prize.

Sam Deutsch — a junior from Bethesda, Md., majoring in political economy — is one of 15 undergraduates to reach the quarterfinals this season.

A former high school Quiz Bowl ace, Deutsch is the fourth Trojan to compete in the tournament since Jeopardy! College Championship began in 1988.

He faces contestants from Northwestern and Mississippi State universities Feb. 3. The show airs in the Los Angeles area at 7 p.m. on KABC-TV (Channel 7).
