County. They\u2019re mapping the landscape of where food is located and connecting that with individuals\u2019 food habits and behaviors to determine how these issues can be addressed through policy changes.<\/p>\n<p>Researcher\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/keck.usc.edu\/faculty-search\/kayla-de-la-haye\/\">Kayla de la Haye<\/a>\u00a0is working with faculty members\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dornsife.usc.edu\/cf\/faculty-and-staff\/faculty.cfm?pid=1003824\">John Wilson<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/priceschool.usc.edu\/people\/wandi-bruine-de-bruin\/\">W\u00e4ndi Bruine de Bruin<\/a>, staff from Public Exchange, and community, civic and private partners. Together, they\u2019re building a conceptual model of food insecurity and using it to gain insights about the system, especially when a crisis interrupts the flow of food to people. A data portal will help other cities and counties across the U.S. optimize food system resilience and support food equity.<\/p>\n<p>De la Haye is associate professor in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/keck.usc.edu\/\">Keck School of Medicine<\/a>; Wilson is professor of sociology, civil and environmental engineering, computer science, architecture and preventive medicine and the founding director of USC Dornsife\u2019s Spatial Sciences Institute; and W\u00e4ndi Bruine de Bruin is Provost Professor of Public Policy, Psychology and Behavioral Science at USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and USC Dornsife.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The project is being funded by a $2,054,156 grant from the National Science Foundation (Award No. 21256160). The grant is the result of 16 months of work on a pilot project with L.A.
