Postdoctoral fellow Thomas Day awarded prestigious LSRF fellowship
USC Dornsife postdoctoral researcher Thomas Day has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Life Sciences Research Foundation (LSRF) Fellowship. The award provides three years of funding to support his work, which seeks to understand how feedback between cell interactions and emergent multicellular states shape the ecology of patchy marine environments.
Day’s research, conducted in the laboratory of Julia Schwartzman, Gabilan Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at USC Dornsife, contributes to a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems, bacterial communities and ecological dynamics. Schwartzman, whose lab investigates cellular-scale behaviors in marine environments, praised Day’s innovative approach and commitment to advancing the field of marine biology.
The LSRF Fellowship is a highly competitive award given to early-career scientists across a variety of life science disciplines. Day was selected from more than 500 applicants, reflecting the high caliber of his research and its potential impact on the scientific community.
