When sunlight or bright light from a desk lamp hits the panels on the airplane, it generates electricity which turns the propeller on the miniature plane, causing it to fly in circles around the attached base. This is an excellent demonstration of solar power in action: if you cover up the solar panel, the propeller stops turning. This motor and its parabolic mirror can be attached to any conventional camera tripod.
