A major or minor in Spanish and Portuguese can complement interests in international relations, political science, business, education, sociology, linguistics, political science… the possibilities are endless.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

SPAN 260\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Advanced Spanish: Arts and Sciences<\/p>\n

Upper Division (16 units)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four of the following courses:<\/p>\n

– SPAN 301 Introduction to Hispanic Literature and Film
\n– SPAN 310 Structure of Spanish
\n– One other SPAN literature, culture, film course
\n– One 400 level SPAN course<\/p>\n

Electives (16 units):<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four other upper division SPAN courses.<\/p>\n

*\u00a0Majors and minors may request a waiver of\u00a0SPAN 260<\/a>\u00a0if they meet one or more of the following prerequisites: a) a score of 5 on the\u00a0Spanish<\/span>\u00a0language or literature advanced placement (AP) exam; b) a score of 6 or 7 on the\u00a0Spanish<\/span>\u00a0International Baccalaureate Higher-Level exam (IBHL); c) a score of 800 in the\u00a0Spanish<\/span>\u00a0SAT subject exam; or d) demonstrate advanced proficiency in spoken and written\u00a0Spanish<\/span>. Departmental approval is required in every case.<\/em><\/p>\n
