Mark Lloyd is a Clinical Professor at the USC-Annenberg School. From 2009-2012 he served as an associate general counsel at the Federal Communications Commission, advising the Commission on inclusion and localism. Prior to joining the FCC, Lloyd was a vice president at the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. His legal career includes work as the General Counsel of the Benton Foundation, an attorney at the DC law firm Dow, Lohnes & Albertson, and the Executive Director of a public advocacy organization – The Civil Rights Forum on Communication Policy. Lloyd is an Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist in public and commercial radio and television, including NBC and CNN. He has authored numerous articles in both scholarly and popular publications. His 2007 book Prologue to a Farce: Communication and Democracy in America was published by the University of Illinois Press, and in 2016 he co-edited The Communication Crisis in America and How to Fix It published by Palgrave MacMillan.
